This year has come and gone, and that means Analyzing Alpha is one year old.
Initially, I started Analyzing Alpha to be a resume builder first and an educational site second as I was in the process of starting a hedge fund. I had lawyers, multiple investors, and was pretty close to hitting the go button. Still, after meeting with numerous managers, I decided against launching as my first love is valuation and researching trading strategies, and not regulatory and customer management. Perhaps this is just self rationalization because I was borderline on the capital I needed to raise. If I’m honest with myself, it’s probably a little bit of both.
I want to thank all of you who reached out to me throughout the year and encouraged me to continue writing. Analyzing Alpha previously took a backseat, but because of you, in 2020 it’ll be front and center.
The tenants I listed in welcome to the blog still hold. I want Analyzing Alpha to be transparent, cut through the noise, and help both new and experienced investors make more money in the markets.
In 2020, I’ll be posting more often, mostly regarding algorithmic trading. Once Analyzing Alpha builds authority in the eyes of Google, I’ll begin to write on company valuation and pricing, which are my first love. I believe both are important as knowledge of valuation factors can lead to significant advantages when creating quantitative or systematic strategies.
If there is enough demand, I would like to create The Analyzing Alpha Academy. The Academy would include online courses that would teach Python and data science through the lens of algorithmic trading. If this is something you would be interested in, please let me know. Knowing your thoughts is much better than me guessing as to what I would have wanted years ago.
Also, I am toying with the idea of adding a community as full time trading is a lonely road and something I struggle with on a daily basis.
The Greatest Gift
I’ve been absent from the blog in December. Santa blessed me with the best present ever. I became a dad to a beautiful baby girl named Laya. It’s amazing how the birth of your first child puts everything into perspective. Things that used to be important feel so much less so, and other things become more critical than ever.
I also want to thank my beautiful wife Dyana. Without her encouragement, this website wouldn’t exist, and my life would be a lot less wonderful.
